Greetings from Thulcandra!

I love writing. When I was nine, I began work on a short chapter book about a girl who looses her little brother in the woods near her house. During her search, she joins forces with a dwarf and a villiage of fairies as she realizes just how important her brother was to her. I never finished the book, but it began a long journey for me. I've been writing ever since then, up to today on this blog. A few years ago, I took a serious look in the world of fiction publishing. Frankly, I was incredibly daunted by what I saw. It's very difficult to even get a foot in. Work in non-fiction or editing is paramount to attracting and keeping a publisher's attention. And considering all the dribble and self-publishing these days, not even an acceptance letter from Random House can mean much. Considering this, I decided to let up on working towards being printed, and just focus on perfecting my craft slowly.
To this end, a very close friend and I began exchanging our stories for review. This sharpened my eye until I offered to help another friend on her major project. I was learning how elements worked together to build characters and a world. I was learning how to communicate with clarity to readers as a reader. Some fellow students at college would ask me to glance over their papers and I would have to quickly point our mistakes in grammar and gaps in communication. I realized I loved this. I love helping other word-craftsmen develop their skills. I love digging my teeth into a tale and finding what makes it tick. I'm not much for public speaking or painting, but sharing thoughts and building whole worlds with ink is what I have set my mind to.

I have never kept a blog regularly. I've had two, both now deleted. This, I am deciding, will be different. I'm looking forward to posting book, movie, grahpic novel, and even televion serial reveiws on here. I hope to open conversation with you, my readers, about the themes and techniques in story craft. I hope to take your suggestions for further reading and critique. Who knows? I may even write my own short stories and serials for you to read (and, yes, please critique). Some of my personal life and experiences will sneak in here- I hope you don't mind.
Thank you for reading, all. Thanks for bookmarking and checking back here regularly. I'll be sure to update at least once a month!
